Our History

Trinity Rescue Mission was established 41 years ago by the congregation of Trinity Baptist Church and church leaders as an expression of their burden for the homeless and addicted people on the streets in Jacksonville.

In 1970, the ministry opened a long-term substance abuse program in St. Johns County in order to meet the increasing need in the community for a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility.

In 1997, the Rescue Mission moved from 901 West Bay Street to a new 12,000 square foot facility at 622 West Union Street. This new facility has greatly increased the capacity and effectiveness of care we are able to provide for the homeless.

In August 2006, we completed construction of the Women and Children's Center.  Trinity Rescue Mission's new 14,000 square foot emergency shelter is designed to meet the needs of 1200 women and mothers with children every year.  Each day the Center will provide hot meals, clean clothing and lodging.  We must do what we can to teach and assist the homeless women and children in Jacksonville to live responsible, productive lives.  Our community's future depends upon what we are willing to invest in improving the lives of others, especially our next generation.
