Homelessness by the Numbers
According to changinghomelessness.org, within the last 10 years, the total number of individuals that find themselves homeless in our community has decreased by 32%. While we are encouraged by the results that our ministry and others like it are experiencing, we know there is still much work to do.
Every day we see people come through our doors that need the kind of restoration and life-change that only Jesus provides. We understand the importance of supplying all of our guests with a safe place to stay, nutritious meal, hot shower, and a warm bed, but the most valuable thing we can ever offer is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
How Many Homeless People Are In Our Community?
By latest estimates, there are over 1,600 homeless individuals in NE Florida today. Of those 1,600, over 25% of them are women and children. These are among the most vulnerable and at risk, and is precisely why we are proud of the life-changing work we're able to provide at the Women and Children's Center.
In the end, the numbers of homeless and hungry in Jacksonville and Northeast Florida are staggering.
