Resilience, Determination, and Faith: The Brittni Davis Story

December 14, 2022 - a date that will forever be etched in the mind of Brittni Davis. It is a day that everything in her life changed. The day she received the news that she had renal and heart failure. At the beginning, she thought it was just COVID, but tests proved her otherwise. She was scared and confused, not knowing what the future held for her.

During her near month long stay in the hospital, Brittni lost her job and apartment, and people she thought she could rely on turned their backs on her.

“I just assumed the burden and responsibility of my illness was too much for other people to handle.”

She had to juggle taking care of her children and maintaining her health. Her son went to stay with his grandmother, and her daughters were split between her mother and sister.

Things got worse when she missed dialysis while trying to keep a roof over her and her family’s head. The fluid began building up around her heart and it became hard for her to breathe. After a brief stay with a friend, who ended up stealing from her in the future, she went back to the hospital with her children and all their belongings.

After a short stay in the hospital, is when Brittni found Trinity Rescue Mission and her life was changed forever. With a safe place to stay, she could focus on her health and getting her life back on track. The program has been a blessing for her and her family. Her children are in a secure environment, and she can make all her appointments without worrying about where they will sleep or stay.

Despite her health struggles, she is determined not to give up. She is looking to get on the transplant list soon, a permanent place for her and her family to live, and a vehicle to be able to get around.

"My faith keeps me going, and I believe that God will provide for me and my family. God has blessed us so much this far,”

Brittni says.

Brittni’s story is one of resilience, determination, and faith. It is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of hope. Her message to anyone facing similar challenges is clear – “keep pushing, keep fighting, and don't give up. God is not done with you yet.”
